Surgical Weight Loss

Bariatric Surgery

Minimally invasive, robotically assisted weight-loss surgery.

Advanced weight-loss procedures performed laparoscopically and with robotic assistance. Smaller incisions, faster recovery, and long-term metabolic results.

Procedure 01

Gastric Sleeve

Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy (VSG)

The most common bariatric procedure in the U.S.

Approximately 80% of the stomach is removed, reducing appetite hormones and restricting intake. Most patients lose 60–70% of their excess body weight.

Duration
60–90 min, outpatient or 1-night stay
Recovery
Light activity in ~2 weeks

Procedure 02

Gastric Bypass

Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass

The long-standing gold standard for durable weight loss.

A smaller stomach pouch is created and the small intestine is rerouted, reshaping metabolism and reducing calorie absorption. Strong long-term outcomes for type 2 diabetes and severe reflux.

Duration
2–3 hours, 1–2 night hospital stay
Recovery
Light activity in ~2–3 weeks

Procedure 03

Gastric Band

Adjustable Gastric Band (and removal)

Historic procedure now more often reversed than performed.

Adjustable band surgery is rarely offered as a first procedure today. Most of our band-related work is safe removal and conversion to a sleeve or bypass for patients experiencing complications or inadequate results.

Duration

Procedure 04

Revision Surgery

Revisional Bariatric Surgery

A second chance when the first procedure falls short.

For patients who experienced weight regain, uncontrolled reflux, or mechanical complications after a previous procedure. Common revisions: sleeve-to-bypass conversion, band removal with conversion to sleeve or bypass.

Duration
Typically 2–3 hours
Recovery
Light activity in ~2–3 weeks

Procedure 05

SADI-S

Single-Anastomosis Duodeno-Ileal Bypass with Sleeve

A powerful option for higher BMI or metabolic disease.

A newer two-component procedure combining a sleeve gastrectomy with an intestinal bypass. Designed for patients with higher BMI or severe metabolic disease, with fewer complications than traditional duodenal switch.

Duration
2.5–3.5 hours
Recovery
Light activity in ~3 weeks

Procedure 06

Duodenal Switch

Biliopancreatic Diversion with Duodenal Switch

Maximum metabolic intervention for select candidates.

The most comprehensive bariatric procedure available, combining stomach reduction with significant intestinal rerouting. Typically reserved for patients with BMI 50+ or severe metabolic disease after thorough candidacy evaluation.

Duration
3–4 hours
Recovery
Light activity in ~3–4 weeks
